First Christian Church of Harrison has six age-appropriate classes for children and youth (see Children's Ministries Page for listing) and nine adult Sunday School Classes. The adult classes are as follows:
- Fountain of Life: The philosophy of the Fountain of Life Sunday School Class is to study and grow together in Christian fellowship, and love through our study of the Bible. Class members range in age from 30 - 50+.
- Hearthstone Class: We represent the hearthstone that radiates the flame of the Holy Spirit to those who want to be filled with the warmth of God's love and grace. Our age group is in the 60's and plus with over 40 members. Marge Collier has taught our class for over 40 years, and we are studying "Journey through the Bible", year 3. The first Sunday of each month, we take a love offering which we use to help with various worthy causes, such as students in need, K-Life, medical emergencies, families suffering burn-outs, and a new church. We enjoy a social and fellowship dinner once a month.
- Agnes Bass Shinn: Our class, named after Agnes Bass Shinn, is the oldest class in the church. Our class is taught by Louise Hetherington, and our average attendance is 9 - 10. Our class does an excellent job of praying for everyone.
- Open Door Class: In 1973, the Open Door Class was only attended by newly weds. Now we range in age from 20's to 60's, and have over 40 members on the roll. There are 12 - 14 members who rotate teaching duties. All members participate by bringing their Bibles and entering in the discussions. Our class contributes monthly to K-Life and missionaries in Africa. The annual Christmas Party is a highlight. All are welcome to enter our "open door".
- Seekers: The seekers Class take turns leading discussion on various materials pertinent to a daily walk with Christ. Recent studies were by Max Lucado and Anne Graham Lotz.
- Cornerstone Believers: The Cornerstone Believers class was begun in 1998 for adults who never had or were not currently attending Sunday School. A class of 16 members, they meet in their own classroom in the main Sunday School wing. Candi Martin is the teacher. The class takes I Peter 2:6-10 as a scripture for their name. The Cornerstone Believers invite any adult to join them who wants to build their relationship with Jesus Christ through study fellowship, and service.
- Young Adult: The Young Adult Sunday School Class began in September of 2003. The class consists of mostly college age students and young adults. The class is currently doing a study of the New Testament using the Serendipity Study Bible. Our class is open to anyone who wants to enjoy fellowship and study God's word.
- Fidelis Class: The Fidelis Class was chartered 55 years ago. Emphasis has always been, as the name implies, faithful devotion to duty, aiming at a quality of faith that is bathed in prayer. (Matt. 17 - 20) Mrs. Francis Miller was a long-time teacher, Al Gregory for a short period, and Mrs. Wilma Stevens for more than a decade. Ted Clothier is the present teacher. Our missionary recipient is the Fellowship of John, Christian Retirement Community in Edmond, OK. The class has also supplied the Christmas treats for all children of the church for many years. On occasion, they have even provided the Santa Claus.
- Christian Crusader Class: This is the newest class beginning in 2004. Created out of a desire to know more about today’s World religions and how they affect us. We have studied from the World's major religions down to local denominations of the Christian faith and how they all differ from the Disciples of Christ. We became Christian Crusader Class in 2006 as we attempt to grow and enrich our personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the knowledge of many sources. We invite everyone to join us each Sunday morning as we gather in the church library.
